What is Reiki?

Reiki is a complementary hands-on-healing practice. It is used to support physical, mental-emotional and spiritual healing. The word Reiki itself is a Japanese word, “Rei” meaning universal life, and “Ki” meaning energy.

Reiki Treatment

Reiki is an ancient healing practice that was rediscovered by Mikao Usui in Japan during the 1920s. Since then, it has been spread and taught throughout the world, and there are now many different systems and types of Reiki available. The traditional Usui system of Reiki follows the lineage of Mikao Usui, in which the energy is passed from teacher to student through an attunement process, maintaining the authenticity and integrity of the practice.

life-force energy

The knowledge of a universal life-force energy has been understood for centuries within various spiritual traditions. Although it is labelled differently depending on the tradition, the concept is the same. It includes Chi (Qi) in Chinese Medicine, Prana in the Hindu Yogic Traditions, and Ki in Japan. In the west, Dr Wilhelm Reich discovered the same energy and called it Orgone energy. The existence of this energy and how it operates within the universe is also supported and studied within the field of quantum physics.

More About Reiki THERAPY 1-1 SESSIONS

My 1-1 Reiki session last for 60 minutes. During the treatment, you will be laying down in a comfortable position the life-force energy is channelled through my hands which are laid very gently on, or a few inches above the area of the body that is being treated.

I work with each of the seven chakras (energy centres) within the body - bringing them into greater balance and harmony. I also focus on specific areas which need healing due to physical, emotional or energetic blockages. These might be areas of physical pain or emotional tension which we will discuss at the start of the session.

What will it feel like to have a treatment?

When having a treatment, you might feel sensations such as twitching, warmth, tingling, or a movement of energy within the body. Generally, there is an overall sense of well-being felt as the energy is channelled into the body. It is also normal to have no sensation or feelings at all during the treatment, and what you and I feel may be entirely different from each other.

Anyone can receive the benefits of Reiki, and it can be used to support any healing process within the body, spirit or mind. The concept of healing can often be misinterpreted to mean cure - Reiki is not a cure for severe illnesses or pain, but it is a powerful complementary tool that can be used in addition to other forms of medical treatment.

My experience is that healing is synonymous with wholeness, and connecting to our inner truth and higher self. Reiki assists us in finding a sense of wholeness, connection and awareness.
