About The Event
Experience the transformative benefits of traditional yoga combined with sound healing.
This session will elevate your state of Being, getting you 'out of your head' and into the here and now – to a place that promotes harmony within and around you. The traditional hatha yoga practice will open the body and calm the mind, preparing you for a deeper state of relaxation through the restorative power of sound. You will walk away feeling more at peace, rejuvenated and centred in a state of wellbeing.
What to expect:
Hatha Yoga
The first half of the experience will be a traditional hatha practice, which includes an effective combination of asana (postures), pranayama (breathwork) and meditation.
The asanas are held for a longer period, with mindful progression from one to another. More attention is paid to basic alignment, therapeutic principles and breath, which helps open the body and calm the fluctuations of the mind. This allows the practitioner to become more present, resulting in greater awareness and relaxation.
The strength of held postures is combined with the serenity of slow pace breath-directed movement, making this class suitable for practitioners of all levels. Modifications and variations are offered.
Sound Healing with Tibetan Singing Bowls
In the second half you'll experiencing the powerful healing effects of Tibetan singing bowls. Their vibrations are described as the “sound of the universe manifesting” and have been used for centuries in ceremonies, meditation and spiritual practices.
We'll begin with a short guided meditation, where we'll ground ourselves and settle into the session laying down. You'll then enter a ‘liminal state’ while being immersed in the powerful sounds of the Tibetan Singing Bowls. The sound vibrations promote physical, emotional, and spiritual healing; reduce physical pain, mental stress, and help release emotional blockages.
What to Bring
- Wear warm, comfy clothes - we will be lying down for most of the second half! We have yoga mats and blocks (but you're welcome to bring anything that will add to your comfort including a blanket and a small cushion for the sound immersion!)
- Arrive 15 minutes before the start time- we will start the session at 4.00 pm.
- A water bottle (filtered water is available on site)
- Switch off your mobiles and use the toilets before the session begins
- Please do not come if you are unwell or are showing symptoms of covid-19.
About
Back to Roots Yoga: Vishal is a Yoga Alliance registered teacher with a residential 200-HR Yoga Teacher Training certificate from Samyak Yoga Ashram in India.
My practice is grounded in the values and key principles of traditional Indian yoga. The intention is to take you back to the roots of yoga and offer an authentic practice that can add more balance to your modern day life. For added purpose, I donate 5% of all all proceeds to a London based not-for profit organisation called Project Yogi.
'I believe the success of yoga does not lie in the ability to perform postures, but in how it positively changes the way we live and promote our relationships. This has led me to what I feel is my purpose (or perhaps one of many) in life – to use this gift to inspire and directly contribute to positive change in the lives of others and the community, by drawing on my experiences and making the benefits of the teachings available to more people. And, not to forget, to have some fun along the way!'
